Lenten Prayer #22 For What is True and Right

Isaiah 59:14-16
Justice is turned back,
and righteousness stands at a distance;
for truth stumbles in the public square,
and uprightness cannot enter.
Truth is lacking,
and whoever turns from evil is despoiled.
The Lord saw it, and it displeased him
that there was no justice.
He saw that there was no one,
and was appalled that there was no one to intervene;
so his own arm brought him victory,
and his righteousness upheld him.

Luke 19:10
For the Son of Man came to seek out and to save the lost.

God of Justice, truth has often become scarce in the "open" places of our societies.  What is publicized or televised is so diluted with falsehood that it often seems we no longer expect to hear leaders speak with genuine integrity.  Those who stand for what is right are often sidelined or marginalized or considered fools.  Do not leave us in this darkness.  Reach in, as if with your own right hand, to stabilize those who stand for what is right and true.  Expose what is false.  Sustain what is true so that we can walk in your justice.  Amen
